Sarah Mendelsohn discovered the Buteyko breathing technique when dealing with asthma problems of her own. Having developed thrush in her throat and almost losing her voice before realizing why, she went to a throat specialist who informed her that the cause was the steroidal asthma medicine that she was taking.
As a performing singer she realized she needed to get off of those meds as soon as possible to avoid more throat issues, but had always been told that it wasn’t possible without risking serious asthmatic repercussions, and that she would probably have to be on meds for the rest of her life.
During vocal rehab she was introduced to someone who taught Buteyko’s breathing-retraining. With determination to be free of the culpable meds, she dove wholeheartedly into learning the technique for herself. After first hand experience of the immediate positive effects, she decided it would be great to share this new liberating experience with others, and trained to become an educator.
Sarah is a registered Buteyko Breathing Educator with the Buteyko Breathing Educator’s Association (BBEA). After 30 years of being on asthma medication she is now med free and looks forward to helping you to breathe better too!
